Being Bostonian

The weekend's here..and finally, we spend it in good Ol' Beantown....our plan for the Beantown weekends is pretty straightforward, we need to cover everything "touristy", as in all probability, I will be leaving this charming city to start life anew in New York!

So we started with Whale Watching - sounds fancy, but its really just that - heading out on a catamaran into the middle of the ocean to watch whales. Now they don't exactly wait patiently for us and perform tricks for our entertainment, so we were forewarned that many times visitors don't get to see whales...the area we were in was a feeding ground for the whales and it was a balmy day, so we got lucky and saw a good number of humpback whales coming out on the surface with their mouths wide open to grab shoals of fish...we also saw their fin's just as they were thumping them on the water to scare the fish...We were really lucky (or so the naturalist told us) to be able to see a large number of whales, dolphins and even one cute seal who wasn't afraid to swim up very close to our ferry...all at relatively close proximity...the ride in is an hour and the ride out takes the same time...so its a 3 hour cruise and because of a very heavy brunch, the Axeman was in a food coma for most of the trip...so blame him for the lack of good pics.

In the evening, we had tickets to the Russell Peters show...as stated earlier, I love this guy.he's hysterically funny, but watching him live had me a little dissapointed...most of his jokes were repeats that I'd seen on YouTube or TV...and he just sort of had a "blah" attitude all through the act which lasted barely an hour...he seemed to be sleep walking through his entire performance...almost like Shah Rukh Khan in those over-the-top romantic Bollywood crap he churns out ever year...So he's worth a watch once I guess, maybe next time I'll just get onto YouTube...

The weekend ended with a most delicious brunch, courtesy Usha aunty who made masala dosas and homemade baadam barfi...it was the perfect send off for Akshay and a tempting invite to come again to good ol' Beantown...
